Jane has been part of the Shelley Bay community for
twenty years, and as such is its longest residing artist. She is a painter, potter, sculptor and musician. However it is her skill in hand-cut mosaic mirrors that she is most recognised for.
Janes work celebrates light, and is influenced by her love for the symmetry and simplicity of traditional Japanese art, art deco, the sea and music.
Here we see Jane, comfortable in her own space; a converted quarter-masters store that still has the names and intials for soldiers uniforms on the walls, it's wooden floor worn down by those waiting for them.
Whilst the future of the base is uncertain, Jane continues to work and be inspired by the things around her.
Jane studio "Mind your head" has been part of Shelley Bay for
twenty years and is its longest resident artist. Although her list of artistic skills is long, and covers painting, pottery sculpting and music, she is most famous for her hand-cut mosaic mirrors.
