For Bayview artist Renee Binkowski, her Shelly Bay workspace gives her an opportunity to feel connected to the arts scene and inspired by other artists.
Originally hailing from Buffalo, New York, Binkowski has always been creative. For almost 20 years she worked as a texture painter in visual effects, while taking photos and painting in her spare time. But several major life events, including a baby and a move halfway across the globe to New Zealand, all forced her to hit pause on that creativity for a time. But Binkowski is rediscovering her artistic side, and has a strong interest in encaustic painting (painting with colours added to heated beeswax).
Now that she has the time and space to focus on her art, it’ll be exciting to see where that journey takes her.
